Rule 1: Life is not fair. Get used to it.
인생이란 원래 공평하지 못하다.
그런 현실에 대하여 불평할 생각하지 말고 받아들여라..
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem.
The world will expect you to accomplish something
before you feel good about yourself.
세상은 네 자신이 스스로를 어떻게 생각하든 상관하지 않는다.
세상이 너희들한테 기대하는 것은 네가 스스로 만족하다고
느끼기 전에 무엇인가를 성취해서 보여줄 것을 기다리고 있다.
Rule 3: You will not make $40,000 a year right out of high school.
You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
고등학교를 졸업하고 곧바로 연봉 4만 달러가 될 것이라고는 상상도 하지 말라.
높은 소득과 직위는 열심히 일해서 네 스스로 얻어내야 하는것이다..
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
학교 선생님이 까다롭다고 생각되거든
사회나와서 직장 상사의 진짜 까다로운 맛을 한번 느껴봐라.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.
Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping.
They called it opportunity.
햄버거가게에서 일하는 것을 수치스럽게 생각하지마라.
너희 할아버지는 그 일을 기회라고 생각하였다.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault.
So don't whine about your mistakes. Learn from them.
네 인생을 네가 망치고 있으면서 부모 탓을 하지마라
불평만 일삼을 것이 아니라 잘못한 것에서 교훈을 얻어라
Rule 7: Your school may have done away with winners and losers,
but life has not. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades
and they'll give you as many times as you want to get the right answer.
This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
학교는 승자나 패자를 뚜렷이 가리지 않을 지 모른다. 하지만 인생은 그렇지않다..
학교에선 네가 잘 할때까지 몇번이고 기회를 주지만..
사회 현실은 이와 다르다는 것을 명심해라

You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in
helping you find yourself. Do that on your own time.
인생은 학기처럼 구분되어 있지도 않고
여름 방학이라는 것은 아예 있지도 않다.
네 스스로 알아서 하지 않으면 직장에선 도와주지도 가르쳐주지도 않는다..
Rule 9: Television is NOT real life.
In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
TV는 현실과는 다르다..
현실에서는 커피를 마셨으면 일을 하러 가야 하는법이다..
Rule 10: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
공부밖에 할줄 모르는 "바보"한테 잘보여라
사회에 나온다음에는 아마 "그 바보"밑에서 일하게 될지도 모른다.
